Terms of Use

1. Apple’s standard license

Buddy is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These terms add to the Standard EULA. Where they conflict, these terms apply, except where the Standard EULA gives you rights that can’t be reduced. Apple isn’t responsible for Buddy or its content, maintenance or support.

2. Your account

You sign in with Apple or with a code sent to your email. Keep access to that Apple ID or inbox secure; you’re responsible for what happens in your account. Buddy isn’t directed at children under 13. If you’re under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission to use Buddy and to make purchases. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account › your name › Delete account).

3. Free use, Buddy Pro and scan packs

Free

Without a subscription you get 3 card scans and 1 check before you buy each calendar month. Unused free scans don’t carry over. We may change what the free tier includes; the app will show the current allowance.

Buddy Pro subscription

• Buddy Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly ($9.99 a month) or yearly ($59.99 a year). Prices are shown in US dollars here; the App Store shows the price in your currency, including any taxes, before you confirm.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
• Your subscription renews automatically for the same length and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
• You can manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID account settings: on iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Buddy. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your Buddy account doesn’t cancel it.
• If we change the price, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before you are charged the new price.

Free trial

New subscribers may be offered a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription and you’re charged the price you selected. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. Trials are one per Apple ID, as determined by Apple.

Scan packs

A scan pack (10 scans for $4.99) is a one-time, consumable purchase. The scans are added to your Buddy account, are used only after your free scans for the month run out, and don’t expire while your account exists. Scan packs can’t be transferred, exchanged for cash or restored once used, and are lost if you delete your account.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, and we can’t issue refunds ourselves. To ask for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refund requests under its own policies. Nothing in these terms limits refund rights you have under the law where you live.

Restoring purchases

If you reinstall Buddy or move to a new iPhone, sign in to the same Buddy account and use Restore purchases on the plan screen to restore an active subscription.

4. Estimates, not guarantees

Grade estimates, fake checks, card identifications, prices, fees and “what you’d clear” figures are estimates for information only. They’re produced automatically from photos, published grading standards and recent sales data, and they can be wrong. Photos can hide flaws, sales data can be incomplete, and graders and markets change.

• Buddy is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by PSA, CGC, Beckett (BGS), TAG, SGC or any other grading company, or by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures or Game Freak. Their names are used only to describe which grading scale an estimate refers to.
• We don’t guarantee that a card will receive any grade, that it is genuine or fake, or that it will sell for, or is worth, any price.
• Buddy isn’t financial or investment advice. Decisions to buy, sell or submit a card for grading are yours, and you should check important ones yourself, for example with a grading company or a certificate lookup.

5. Acceptable use

Please don’t:

• use Buddy to break the law or to mislead others, for example by presenting an estimate as an official grade;
• upload photos you don’t have the right to use, or photos of people;
• scrape, copy or resell Buddy’s results, prices or data, or use them to build a competing product or train an AI model;
• reverse engineer the app, interfere with or overload our servers, or get around limits such as the free scan allowance or referral rewards (including with multiple accounts);
• access another person’s account or data.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos and information you add. You give us permission to store, process and copy them only as needed to run and improve Buddy, as described in our Privacy Policy. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept briefly in backups.

7. Our app

Buddy, its design, software, text, mascot and grading engine belong to us or our licensors. Card names and artwork belong to their owners and appear in Buddy only to identify cards. We may change, add or remove features, and may stop offering Buddy, with reasonable notice where we can.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Buddy is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties not set out in these terms, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses from buying, selling, grading or valuing cards based on Buddy’s estimates. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that can’t be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your rights as a consumer where you live.

9. Ending these terms

You can stop using Buddy and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering Buddy. Sections 4, 6 (for content already processed), 7, 8 and 10 continue to apply after that.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and disputes will be handled by the courts there, unless the law where you live as a consumer gives you the right to have them governed by local law or heard in your local courts.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. We’ll change the effective date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Buddy after that means you accept the updated terms.
